How to train your dragon - Review

I went to see how to train you dragon 2D at the weekend, going to watch it with the presumption that this was a movie intended for both adults and children. This I think was wrong, the plot is a good one, but it seems at the moment that a films plot is no longer the most important part of the film, which is why I am glad I saw the 2D version as I was not distracted with 3D effects. If I had gone to see this knowing that it was a film for kids then I probably would have enjoyed it more.
The plot is, that a young Viking "Hiccup" how has broken free from the norm, which is killing dragons, learns to train a dragon and interact with it. Therefore challenging the others views and beliefs.
The film was interesting, as I find with some kids films you can get distracted and bored this seemed to hold my attention better. However saying this there were no jokes for the adults in this film it was very kid orientated.
The character of Hiccup, who you are supposed to empathize for, I didn't really like which is never a good sign if you don;t empathize with the main character. I think this is because he was on one level the whole time, he is sad and mopey until he finds the dragon and even after that he is still pretty miserable.
I would say go see it if you have kids and go for the 3D one as it probably is a bit more interesting. This was great for kids, but for the adults don't expect much.
