The Hangover...better than alcohol?
June 17th 2009 14:36
Why yes...yes it is. The Hangover for those 2 hilariously amusing hours is indeed better than alcohol! The film itself, although lacking extremely comedic stars like Adam Sandler or Will Ferrel, does utilise the 3 main actors really really well. They are almost perfect for the role and each man has their own comedic role within the threesome. The humour is vulgar and sometimes oh so very cruel but so damn funny!
Plot *WITHOUT SPOILERS
Four friends embark on the most epic bachelor party in Las Vegas two days before one of them is to be married. The next day, three of the four men wake up in a trashed hotel room, a lion in their bathroom and a baby. Their fourth friend (The one getting married) is nowhere to be found and they spend the rest of the film trying to locate him and retrace their memory whilst retracing their steps.
I felt this film not only had a whole heap of humour, but it also had heart. Normally in these films, everything can seem farfetched and nothing can make any sense and one can leave the cinemas thinking "what they hell did I just watch?" That was kind of the feeling I got when I watched "Very Bad Things" starring Jon Favreau and Cameron Diaz. However, after I watched this, not only did everything make sense...despite being farfetched, I felt the love story between Ed Helms' character and Heather Graham was very heartfelt and sweet. The only criticism I can think of is the character of the Chinese man. Although he was enjoyable and quite ridiculous, he seemed to rely a lot of his humour on the way he delivered his lines rather than the content of his lines. That I felt was relying on cheap humour.
Overall, I give this film 4 STARS OUT OF 5. Oh and watch out for the treat during the credits....
PEACE OUT.
